Registration and grading
Registration
Registration to the course platform is done by clicking the REGISTER link on the upper right-hand corner of this page and filling in your details.
If you have previously worked on courses offered on this platform such as Device-Agnostic Design or FITech 101: Digi & Data course series (in Finnish), the same account can be used here. When you work as a registered and logged in user, your progress will be stored.
Note! If you are an Aalto student, register to the course platform using your @aalto.fi
-email address. The account that you create during registration differs from your main aalto.fi
account.
It is possible to read the materials and work on the majority of the assignments without registration. If you choose to continue without registration, your progress may disappear if you e.g. clear information stored in your browser, do not visit the materials for a while, or if we do changes to the course platform.
Grading
The grading of the course is based on assignments, projects, and project reviews.
The grading follows the Finnish Higher education grading scale, where 5 stands for Excellent, 4 stands for Very good, 3 stands for Good, 2 stands for Satisfactory, 1 stands for Pass, and 0 stands for fail.
The course grade is formed as follows:
- Grade 5/5: Received at least 90% of the course points. Both course projects and their reviews completed. Both projects completed with merits.
- Grade 4/5: Received at least 85% of the course points. Both course projects and their reviews completed. At least one of the projects completed with merits.
- Grade 3/5: Received at least 80% of the course points. Both course projects and their reviews completed.
- Grade 2/5: Received at least 75% of the course points. First course project and reviews for the project completed.
- Grade 1/5: Received at least 70% of the course points. First course project and reviews for the project completed.
Projects are graded as either "not completed", "completed", or "completed with merits". In general, completing a project meets delivering a working application that provides the functionality outlined in the project handout and meeting the criteria for completing the project. Projects can also be completed with merits, which effectively means fulfilling additional project criteria. The criteria are outlined in project handouts.
To receive a grade, you must request grading.
Requesting grading
Presently, official Aalto credits are only available to Aalto students and to students with a Finnish social security number and/or Finnish bank credentials (needed for authentication to https://opintopolku.fi/konfo/en/).
Information on how to request grading is available in the part on Requesting Credits.
