Overview and Practicalities

Registration and grading

Registration

Registration to the course platform is done by clicking the Register link on the upper right-hand corner of this page and filling in your details (if you are on a mobile device with a narrow screen, click on the four lines icon to show the link).

If you have previously worked on courses on this platform such as the Web Software Development course, or some of the courses in the FITech 101: Digi & Data course series (in Finnish), the same account can be used here.

When you work as a registered and logged in user, your progress will be stored.

Note! If you are an Aalto student, register to the course platform using your @aalto.fi-email address. The account that you create during registration differs from your main aalto.fi account.

It is possible to read the materials and work on the majority of the assignments without registration. If you choose to continue without registration, your progress may disappear if you e.g. clear information stored in your browser, do not visit the materials for a while, or if we do changes to the course platform.

Grading

The grading of the course follows the Finnish Higher education grading scale, where 5 stands for Excellent, 4 stands for Very good, 3 stands for Good, 2 stands for Satisfactory, 1 stands for Pass, and 0 stands for fail.

Note, for Aalto students, the most up to date information about the course grading is available on the Aalto MyCourses of the currently running course version.

For Aalto University students, including exchange students, the course includes also an end-of-course exam (more details in Aalto MyCourses), which contributes to the overall grade.

For non-Aalto students, Aalto credits are available to students with a Finnish social security number and/or Finnish bank credentials (needed for authentication to https://opintopolku.fi/konfo/en/).

See more details below.

Requesting grading

At the moment, your progress in the course is as follows. Before proceeding to follow the guidelines for requesting grading, you should have at least 75% of the course points.

You have ??% of the course points.

Guidelines for requesting grading differ between Aalto students and others. The guidelines for both are shown below.

For Aalto students

For Aalto students (including exchange students), requesting grading is done by attending the exam. Information about the exam, including the possibility to enroll to the exam, is available on the course page on Aalto MyCourses. Note that the exam is a part of the course and plays a role in the grading.

You need to be registered to a currently running course version to attend the exam. Note that, if you have not yet registered, it can take up to a day for your registration from SISU to be transferred to MyCourses.

The course has a rolling grading window, where grading is done approximately once per month or once per two months. If you wish to receive your grade by a certain date, see the grading schedule page to schedule your studying and the exam.

If you have not used your @aalto.fi email when registering to the course platform, please contact the course staff with your @aalto.fi email address. Include (1) your email address that you used when registering to the platform to the email, and (2) the exam date that you have reserved on MyCourses.
