Evolution of Web Development
Overview
In this last part of the course, we take a brief look back, looking into how web development has changed over the years. The structure of this part is as follows:
- Origins of Internet (1960s-1980s) discusses the origins of the Internet and the World Wide Web.
- Early Web (1990s) outlines the emergence of world wide web, discusses some of the early efforts of companies to gain foothold in the market, and introduces some of the technologies from the era.
- Frameworks, Libraries, Dynamic Content (2000s) discusses the rise of frameworks and libraries and the shift towards dynamic content, including using JavaScript to retrieve data from the server without reloading the page.
- RESTful APIs, Client-Side Frameworks, and Containerization (2010s) introduces RESTful APIs and single-page applications.
- Contemporary Web Development (2020s) discusses modern web development and the latest trends.
Finally, the recap and feedback chapter briefly summarizes the part and asks for feedback.
